Oceans Day
For the survival of Mother Earth and the life she supports, it is vitally important for us to instil an understanding of the impact that our actions have on the future of our planet.
These activities are designed in line with 21st century skills.
A math game linked to the effects of over-harvesting our oceans.
Children are expected to:

The 'data' from the game is recorded in a table and plotted onto a graph. Children learn and make decisions and explore the relationship between cause and effect in this hands-on game.

A set of 6 SCENARIO CARDS extend the game and introduce factors, within and outside human control, in order to stimulate an awareness of living in harmony with our natural recourses to prevent complete extinction.
A math game that uses BASIC ALGEBRA, DATA and PERCENTAGES linked to the effects of over-harvesting our oceans.
Complete basic algebraic equations and record your findings as you play the game. Plot your findings onto a graph to compare the effects of scenarios and the decisions made by humanity as they harvest from our oceans. Children learn and make decisions and explore the relationship between cause and effect in this hands-on game.
A set of 10 SCENARIO CARDS extends the game and introduce factors, within and outside human control, in order to stimulate an awareness of living in harmony with our natural resources to prevent complete extinction and practice responsibility for sustainability.
This fun resource can be used to stimulate creative thinking as it develops fine motor skills and hand strength. Use an activity as an lesson introduction or plenary OR as a Busy Book OR as an additional activities book.
Children are given the opportunity to think as creatively as they wish with the majority of the activities and yet a few activities link to everyday concepts such as symmetry or perspective in art.
